How the Bracket Works
01. Winners Bracket Knockout
All teams start in the upper Winners Bracket. Each match victory propels teams toward the Grand Championship, while a single loss drops the team into the lower Losers Bracket.
02. Losers Bracket Gauntlet
Defeated teams battle through the lower bracket where every match is sudden death. Our scheduling engine calculates rest intervals so lower-bracket teams don't fatigue unfairly.
03. Grand Final & The "If" Decider
The winner of the Losers Bracket faces the undefeated Winner's Bracket champion. If the undefeated team loses, the platform instantly populates Match 15 (The If-Game) to crown the true champion.
Frequently Asked Questions
How does an "If-Game" work in a double elimination tournament?
In double elimination, every team must lose twice to be eliminated. If the Winner's Bracket champion enters the Grand Final undefeated and loses to the Losers Bracket winner, that is only their first loss. Therefore, a sudden-death second championship match (the "If-Game") must be played.
Does TourneyScheduler automatically schedule the If-Game?
Yes! You can toggle the "If-Game" rule on or off. When enabled, our scheduling engine pre-allocates court time and venue capacity for the deciding match so your complex never runs over curfew.
Can I print double elimination brackets for facility display?
Yes. Our PDF Print Center produces crisp, vector-rendered double elimination brackets formatted for high-resolution printable sheets and bulletin board display.
How many teams can I create in a free double elimination bracket?
You can create double elimination brackets for up to 8 teams completely free with no credit card required. For 16, 32, or 64+ team draws, flexible passes and unlimited subscriptions are available.
